In 1936 Olle Westlund established Swedish Hestra Celluloid & Sportvarufabrik, manufacturers of celluloid covers for maps, motorcycle visors, hair curlers and bicycle bells. The production of map covers involved stapling bands around the screen using stapling pliers made in Germany. In 1942 the factory producing these staplers was bombs as supply stopped. The loss of supply of these staplers resulted in the production and launch of the first Rapid stapling plier in 1943.
Today Rapid is one of the world’s leading companies in stapling and tacking solutions, taking control of the whole product process from R&D, Manufacturing to the distribution and marketing. Constant development has lead to Rapid being a leading specialist in 120 counties all over the world.
